Maya Rudolph is an American actress, comedian, and singer, she was born on July 27, 1972, in Gainesville, Florida. She is best known for her work on “Saturday Night Live” and her roles in numerous films and television shows. Rudolph was born to an African American mother, Minnie Riperton, who is a renowned singer, and composer, and a Jewish-American father, Richard Rudolph, who is a music producer. Rudolph attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she studied photography and performed with the improv comedy troupe, known as The Groundlings.
